Some Resources Used in Dad’s Studies
Dad used many books in his years of study. I remember a large table laid out with books, tablets and papers all organized for effective study. I would come down the stairs and see my Dad working hard on his current project, often late into the night.
Here are just a few of the books that Dad has used in his studies. The main source of study was the Bible. It was not uncommon for Dad to read the Bible through just to look at one topic. He might read a different translation, just to get a different point of view on some topic. With so many translations it is important to compare as many translations as possible. This will help prevent a hasty decision regarding the truth. We hope these resources will be of some help in your search for the Truth.
- Dad read all the translations of the bible including: The King James Version, The New King James Version, The New International Version, The Beck Version, The Berkely Version, The Revised English Bible and The Amplified Bible. These were the main translations used in his studies.
The Lamsa Version among others, was also used. This translation was written is Aramaic which was the common language in use during the time of Christ. Few Jews during that time were well versed in the Greek language. Paraphrased Translations of the Bible were also used such as The Living Bible.
- The “Encyclopedia Judaica” published in Jerusalem in 1972, includes 16 Volumes.
- “Young's Analytical Concordance to the Bible”. This concordance was written for the King James Version of the Bible. It has an INDEX - LEXICON To The Old Testament ( in Hebrew), and an INDEX -LEXICON To The New Testament ( in Greek ). My Dad really likes the Young’s concordance because of its ease of use.
- “The Heidelberg Catechism” used in Reformed Churches. Printed in 1981 by the Board of The Christian Reformed Church, 2850 Kalamazoo S.E., Grand Rapids, Mich. 49560.
- “The Spirit of Prophecy Treasure Chest”, printed by the “Review and Herald Publishers Association” Washington D.C.. Copyright 1960 by Ellen G. White Estate Inc.
